Create Connection (Dynamics CRM) activity

An activity that creates a connection between two records.



Configure the Create Connection activity

To configure the Create Connection activity, do the procedure in this topic.

How to Start

  1. On the Organizer, do one of these:
  2. Do one of these:
    • Add an activity:
      1. In the Process Builder, in the Activity Library, open the Dynamics CRM tab.
      2. On the Dynamics CRM tab, drag the Create Connection activity onto your process.
    • Change an activity:
      1. In your process, double-click your activity.

Procedure

  1. Complete the fields on the General Configuration screen.

    For more information, refer to Configure General Options for a CRM Activity.

  2. Click Create Connection .
  3. Complete the fields on the Create Connection Configuration screen.

    For more information, refer to Create a Connection Between Two Entities in Dynamics CRM.

  4. (Optional) Click Advanced > E-mail Notification .

    For more information, refer to Configure E-mail Notifications for Any Activity

General Configuration

Specifies the basic information for a CRM activity.



Fields

Display Name
Function:
Specifies the activity name that shows in your process.
Accepted Values:
One line of text that can have spaces.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Description
Function:
Specifies an optional description for your activity.
Accepted Values:
More than one line of text.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Connection Timeout (Seconds)
Function:
Specifies the number of seconds permitted to complete an action before the connection stops.
Accepted Values:
An integer that represents a number of seconds.
Default Value:
600
Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Create Connection Configuration

Configures a connection between two entities (records).

Dynamics CRM
Function:
Specifies the access token that connects to your Dynamics CRM application.
Accepted Values:
A list of access tokens configured for your environment.
Default Value:
None

Add Token

Opens this Screen:
New Dynamics CRM Access Token
Function of this Screen:
Configures a new access token for Dynamics CRM.

Connect From - Entity Name
Function:
Specifies the entity from which you to create a connection.
Accepted Values:
One line of text that can have spaces.
Default Value:
None

When you select the Dynamics CRM access token

Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Connect From - Entity ID
Function:
Specifies the Dynamics CRM entity ID.
Accepted Values:
A valid Dynamics CRM entity ID.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
Yes

Connect From - Connection Role
Function:
Specifies the connection role from the list to describe the relationship between the participants in the connection.
Accepted Values:
A valid connection role.
Default Value:
None.

When you select the Entity name, the connection role shows in the Connection Role field.

Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Connect From - Connection from Role ID
Function:
Specifies a 32-character role ID supplied by Dynamics CRM for the set connection role.
Accepted Values:
Read-only.
Default Value:
None

When you select the Connection Role, the role ID shows in the Connection from Role ID field.

Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Connect To - Connection Role
Function:
Specifies the connection role from the list to describe the relationship between the participants in the connection.
Accepted Values:
A valid connection role.
Default Value:
None.

When you select the Entity name, the connection role shows in the Connection Role field.

Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Connect To - Connection to Role ID
Function:
Specifies a 32-character role ID supplied by Dynamics CRM for the set connection role.
Accepted Values:
Read-only.
Default Value:
None

Specifies a 32-character role ID supplied by Dynamics CRM for the set connection role, the role ID shows in the Connection to Role ID field.

Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Connect To - Entity
Function:
Specifies the entity to which you connect.
Accepted Values:

When you select the connection role, a list of entities is shown in the Entity field.

Connect To - Entity ID
Function:
Specifies the Dynamics CRM entity ID.
Accepted Values:
A valid Dynamics CRM entity ID.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
Yes

Store New Connection ID in Custom Attribute or Schema
Function:
Specifies the process data variable that contains the connection ID.
Accepted Values:
A process data variable.

You can use Process Data screen to specify a process data variable.

Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
Yes
