Create Chatter Group activity

An activity that creates a group in your Chatter network.



Configure the Create Chatter Group activity

To configure the Create Chatter Group activity, do the procedure in this topic.

How to Start

  1. On the Organizer, do one of these:
  2. Do one of these:
    • Add an activity:
      1. In the Process Builder, in the Activity Library, open the Chatter tab.
      2. On the Chatter tab, drag the Create ChatterGroup activity onto your process.
    • Change an activity:
      1. In your process, double-click your activity.

Procedure

  1. Complete the fields on the General Configuration screen.

    For more information, refer to Configure General Options for a System Activity.

  2. Click Create Chatter Group .
  3. Complete the fields on the Configuration to Create Group in Chatter screen.

    For more information, refer to Create a Chatter Group.

  4. (Optional) Click Advanced > E-mail Notification .

    For more information, refer to Configure E-mail Notifications for Any Activity

General Configuration

Specifies the common information for a system activity.



Fields

Display Name
Function:
Specifies the activity name that shows in your process.
Accepted Values:
One line of text that can have spaces.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Description
Function:
Specifies an optional description for your activity.
Accepted Values:
More than one line of text.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Configuration to Create Group in Chatter

Specifies the group to create in your Chatter network.

Chatter
Function:
Specifies the access token that connects to your Salesforce Chatter application.
Accepted Values:
A list of access tokens configured for your environment.
Default Value:
None

Add Token

Opens this Screen:
New Salesforce Access Token
Function of this Screen:
Configures a new access token for Salesforce.

Instance Name
Function:
Specifies the name of your Salesforce production environment.
Accepted Values:
A valid Salesforce environment URL.
Default Value:
None.

When you select the Chatter access token, the Salesforce environment URL is shown in the Instance Name field.

Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Group Name
Function:
Specifies the name of your Chatter group.
Accepted Values:
One line of text.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
Yes

Description
Function:
A description of the group.

Visibility
Function:
Specifies whether anyone or only members of the group can see and add posts, comments, and files.
Accepted Values:
  • PublicAccess - Anyone can see and add posts, comments, and files.
  • PrivateAccess - Only group members can see and add posts, comments, and files.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
No

Store the Response Group ID in Custom Attribute or Schema
Function:
Specifies the process data variable that stores the group ID.
Accepted Values:
A process data variable.
Default Value:
None
Accepts Process Data Variables:
Yes
